Modular Sofas

We are crushing on modular lounge suites or sectional sofas as they are also referred too.  They have come along way since the 70’s and 80’s and have increased in popularity in recent years.  They scream comfort and suit the modern casual home.  They work so well in open plan spaces and are a great option for families as they offer more seating.  So many styles and and sizes are available so they can work in both large areas and smaller rooms.  They can be arranged in a variety of layouts; mostly L shape comes to mind and some have optional extras such as a chaise, consoles, cup holders, head rests and feet rests.

Here are a few to wet your appetite.

White on white

A white on white space doesn’t have to be bland and boring, by adding a few textures and different shapes you can create a beautiful and harmonious room.

Using a wide variety of different textures adds interest to an all white scheme. Try combing tactile materials, such as woollen rugs combined with a linen curtain, fabric couch and scattering a few cushions in raw hide, wool or leather. Tonal variations, such as milk and latte and cool whites, such as chalk and ice tones, also work so well in creating harmony in a monochromatic interior.

We hope these images give you some inspiration. Enjoy....

Indoor Plants are back

Its no secret indoor plants are back in fashion.  They are great space fillers and their foliage adds interest and texture to a room.  They also create a healthy home as they help to purify the air and help us to feel less stressed.

They are mostly easy to look after with the right amount of water and sunlight.  Just follow the directions they come with.

The Fiddle Fig leaf in a gorgeous pot is a very popular look and yes we adore them too but don’t limit yourself there are many plants that you can place indoors.  Succulents and cacti are a popular look as are hanging plants, air plants and terrariums.

There are so many wonderful looks you can create with a collection of plants or just one or two.  Here are some ideas.

Banquet Seating

We hope that apart from being a place of random eye candy, GarMac Studio’s blog is also a place where clients can drop on in and see what we have been up to and find some inspiration from new designs and concepts out there.

Today’s post is just that! For our lovely client Nadine - this is what I’ve been going on and on about!

Banquet seating is suitable for all kinds of interiors, especially a great option for space saving in small areas/rooms. I also want to point out with these images just how well a banquet can be used with all styles.

After looking at all those options, what do you say Nadine – shall we do it?

Colour trends 2018

The Dulux colour trends 2018 have just been released.

Some of the colour combinations are surprising but work so well together.  There are colour options for all, bold, bright , warm and soft.

There are 4 palettes.

1.       Kinship - Warm and inviting earthy colours are back.  Terracotta, ochre and rust and yes you might say so 80’s but combined with a grey green, the look is lovely.

2.       Essential - Soft browns, sand and grey greens with soft pinks and blues – so pretty.

3.       Escapade - A bold palette.  Tones of pinks, pale mint, teale and blue with a hint of mustard.

4       Reflect - A moody and opulent palette of deep blues, purple, grey and avocado greens.

We  look forward to using some of these colour schemes.

Here are some examples

Cluster Art Walls

Our client, Jasmine is interested in displaying some of her artwork and unsure how to do so, so I thought today’s blog post would show our lovely client just how fabulous cluster walls of all different shapes and sizes can look! And hopefully Jasmine will now feel confident that it’s the right choice for her home.

Like most decorating decisions, there are no rules for hanging and displaying artwork, aside from ensuring a strong, secure hook.

I find that often an eclectic and busy arrangement works well for varied frames in different sizes, whilst a neat orderly hang is usually best where artworks are similarly framed.

Just a few pictures there to get the point well across!

Study Nooks

Study nooks are a popular space inclusion in new house design.  They are a great space saver idea.  They are also becoming a much less formal space no longer tucked away from busy family goings on.  They might be around the corner in a hall way, enclosed in a cupboard or in the corner of another room, even a living room.  This change mirrors the change in workplaces where once upon a time each person had their own office to now where most work places are open plan.

Here are some examples of study nooks we like

Fire wood storage ideas

Built in fire wood storage has become a thing.  Fire wood storage whilst practical can also look great in a space and not to mention neat.  Make it a feature – its so full of texture.  There are so many ideas, built in, ready made or design your own.

Balance in Interior Decorating

When people think about balance in interior decorating, symmetrical balance probably comes to mind first.  This is when one side of a room mirrors the other side.  Symmetrical balance provides calmness and stability but it can also be predictable.

Asymmetrical balance also referred to as informal balance gives visual weight to items.  For example something that is big in size might be balanced by something that might be smaller but bolder in colour or pattern.  It can create quite an interesting room design.

Both look great.  Its whatever suits your style.

Here are some examples.
